Zibalai eldership

There are 48 villages and 7 homesteads in Zibalai eldership.

Among them, the larger villages are Kiaukliai village, Anciūņai village, Šešuolėliai I village, Šešuolėliai II village, Beivydžiai  village, Zibai village.

The center of the eldership is the town of Zibalai.

 The area of the eldership is 13,876 ha.

About 1,100 residents live in the eldership.

The area of the eldership  is 11,300 ha. There are about 1300 inhabitants.

  • There are three churches in the eldership: in the village of Šešuolėliai II near the road to Širvintos on a high ground and in an open place during 1910 a neo-gothic church was built. It’s interior and exterior are delicately decorated. Ornate vaults stand out. In the year of 2000 a new brick church was built in Kiaukliai with has the exhibits of memorial stations, a chapel pillar and a roof pillar. In the wooden church of Zibalai village you can see an easel painting and a roof pillar.
  • Most of the manors have survived in this eldership. The most famous of them is Šešuolėliai. In the northern part of the village of Šešuolėliai there is a manor homestead which is believed to have been built in 1855 by Jasinskiai. The mansion has been beautifully renovated. In the center of the ensemble is the palace. The interior of the palace is characterized by a variety of styles. Around the palace there is a landscaped park with a hill in the middle. Three ponds were dug in the north-south and northeast. The flora of the park is diverse. Rare European larch trees, pecans, Eastern hemlocks and the only Bitternut hickory in Lithuania grow here. The manor is privately owned but open to visitors. Various celebrations, conferences, classical music concerts "Kristupas picnics" are held there. There are more buildings belonging to the manor ensemble that have been preserved: stables, the farmer's house, the distillery, the barn, the ice cream parlor, the farm-hand building. They are also being renovated.
  • The territory of the manor can be viewed only after prior registration. Excursions to the palace are not organized. The homestead and park of the Šešuolėliai I manor are included in the register of cultural values.
  • Next to the village is the Šešuolėliai thermal reserve. The arc of the Baltic highlands is characterized by the landscape of a high marsh with a forested area.
  • The Gaideliai manor located just 5 km from Šešuolėliai is being resurrected from the ruins. In the village of Šešuolėliai II there are still fragments of wooden manor buildings. Staškūniškis manor is perhaps the only one in Lithuania that serves as rare chrestomathy example of the architecture and domesticity of an average wooden manor house during the XVII - XVIII centuries with many authentic details still preserved.
  • Levaniškis II manor is the private property of a farmer. The owner manages and maintains the wooden buildings of the manor furthermore, in the future he has intentions to open them to tourists offering them to get acquainted with farm work, and to get food products from natural farming.
  • There are old graves in the surrounding forests. Kiaukliai mound (circular mountain). From the north-west it is reached by a high ground and on the other sides it is surrounded by a marsh. Kiaukliai mound (circular mound) is included in the Register of Cultural Values.
  • Rubikoniai burial ground is classified as a cultural monument. Eight or nine flattened mounds have remained.
