In the Gelvonai eldership are located the towns of Gelvonai and Bagaslaviškis, 67 villages (of which 15 are uninhabited), 17 homesteads (of which 9 are uninhabited). In the center of the eldership - Gelvonai town. The area of the eldership is 11,300 ha. There are about 1035 inhabitants.
- In the centre of Gelvonai a brick neoclassical with neo - baroque elements St. Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary stand. In the churchyard there is during the XIX century built Pliateriai chapel, in which a stone with a sign resembling a human foot. It is said that in ancient times the mother of God appeared on the stone.

- The partisans of the Great war district operated in the vicinity of Gelvonai. In memory of them in 1998 a monument was constructed in the town square (author - Jonas Jagėla).
- During the years of 1848 - 1849 the future bishop and poet Antanas Baranauskas as well as the author of "Anykščių šilelio" lived in Gelvonai.
- The luminaries from Bagaslaviškis region: writer, diplomat, public figure Ignas Šeinius (Jurkūnas) (Šeiniūnai district). The writer's own birthplace is in the southeastern part of Šeiniūnai village. The foundations of the house remained, and a new house was built on top. Next to it in 1989 in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of I. Šeinius an oak roof pillar created by folk artist Ipolitas Užkurnis was built. Writer and diplomat Ignas Jurkūnas-Šeinius was born on the 4th of March, 1889 and spent his childhood in this homestead.
- One of the most talented and well-known Lithuanian wood carvers, poet and storyteller Ipolitas Užkurnys comes from Bagaslaviškis. There are monuments-sculptures of local artist Ipolitos Užkurnis in the old Pypliai cemetery. One of the most famous Lithuanian wood carvers, Ipolitas Užkurnys, is buried in this cemetery.
- In Bagaslaviškis there is St. Church of the Discovery of the Cross in the churchyard of Bagaslaviškis town - a chapel pillar to the poet, priest Silvestras Gimžauskas.
- Street village of Mikalajūnai, founded in the XVI century, during the Wallachian reform and has preserved the end if XIX century - start XX century authenticity.
- The village of Liukonys is located on both sides of the Širvinta river. On its eastern side on the top of the mound a cross built by folk craftsman Juškevičius can be seen from afar. Nearby - two mythological stones. It is said that these are people turned into stones - John and Paul.
- We will also find mounds: Pasodninkai, Raudonikai, Mančiusėnai, Maskoliškiai, Totoriškiai. Very impressive views can be seen from Totoriškis mound, which is located on the shore of one of the largest and deepest lakes in Vilnius district – Žirnaja.
