There are 62 villages in the Jauniūnai eldership, the largest of which are: Bartkuškis, Medžiukai, Šiauliai. In the center of the eldership - village of Jauniūnai. The area of the eldership – 16428 ha. There are about 1626 inhabitants.
- Just 2 km from the Vilnius - Panevėžys highway is the village of Bartkuškis, first mentioned in 1533. In the northern part of the village - the classical manor palace. They were built by Counts Pliateriai around 1845-1855. The palace stands on the steep shore of lake Bartkuškis. The palace is surrounded by a park. At the end of the main avenue there is a massive three-arched gate with a baroque pediment. There are preserved offices, a distillery, stables and a farm – hand building.
- The eldership is rich in cultural heritage objects: 5 burial mounds, mourning sacred site called Kukaveičius (it is believed that the remains of Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas could have been burned in this place). An ancient settlement of the bronze age was established next to the Turlojiškiai mound. Two manor homesteads have survived in the eldership: Bartkuškis and Juodė.
- There is a unique natural phenomenon in Bartkuškis forest: continental dunes, called Bartkuškis dune.
- Telkšo, Spėra, Žebokštas, Bartkuškis lakes, several small lakes like Varieka , ponds, near Bartkuškis flooded lake Musė.
