Legend has it that the name of the town of Širvintos comes from the river Širvinta. In ancient times a group of moose called širviai made their way through the dense forests near the river leaving a trail behind. Therefore, the river was named Širvinta and the name of the city came from it. The coat of arms of the city of Širvintos is an elk's head adorned with forked horns and the sword which symbolizes fighting with the enemies.

- Near Širvintos St. the square established by the Archangel Mykolas Church with the restored monument "Mother" by Robertas Antinis and the chapel pillar by Ipolitas Užkurnis, dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Širvintos district in 1940-1953. Next to it is the park “The youth garden" which was revived for a new life in 2019. Rest, meet, chat... Create, sing and play or maybe even swear to love forever..
- The central square of the town of Širvintos and the square by the pedestrian bridge invite you to admire the musical fountains, colorful flower beds and the monument of the writer and diplomat Ignas Šeinius "Regiu Lietuvą” (I see Lithuania) created by the sculptor Henrikas Orakauskas. A little further the event and recreation square with the Vilimas Ketvirtis sculpture "Širvinta" is located next to the water terrace opening up the panorama.
- The surviving old city market square, now called the Independence Square, has a monument with a bas-relief of the sculptor Mindaugas Šnipas (according to the idea of Romualdas Šmitas) to Liba Mednikienė, - a participant in the Independence struggles, a Knight of the Vytia Cross, there also is an oak roof pillar of Lithuanian decade of Independence.
- Renovated pedestrian and bicycle paths, the construction of the 181 m. long pedestrian bridge connecting the central part of the city with the beach and the residential quarter was finished during the end of 2020, the romantic wood sculpture park "Moose trail" with many sculptures of the king of the woods – a symbol of the city of Širvintos , created by the best woodcarvers in Lithuania that creates a special atmosphere of the old and new and the harmony between the city and nature.
- The Širvinta city beach is adapted to the needs of residents and guests with a beach volleyball court, waterboarding and water trampoline park, a summer café and a children's playground. in 2020 a swimming pool opened its doors to visitors in Širvintos, and in 2021 the universal sports hall did the same.
